Kerala is well known for its beautiful backwaters. It is one of the best ways to take in the scenes of urban and rural life in this South Indian state.
The backwaters are an intricate knit of rivers, lakes, islets, canals and streams that pass through towns, villages, paddy fields, forests, markets and houses of those who call this waterway their home.
The video above is of Punnamada Kayal (Lake) – which is a part of that network -from the Ramada Alleppey.
The jetty next to the hotel is the docking point for houseboats that you can rent for a day or overnight.
Will share more on our overnight stay on the houseboat in my next post.
