I blinked and 2018 passed by me!
Terence and I traveled to a total of six countries last year – starting with Qatar, followed by Hong Kong, Cambodia, Spain, Andorra and we ended the year in Melbourne, Australia – none of these were planned as of Jan 1, 2018.
In between, we juggled work, major repairs to our decade old home and family commitments.
Our first evening of 2019 back in Kuala Lumpur was spent putting out a fire (my 10-year old car decided she had enough it seems!) followed by trips to the police, fire and insurance company workshop to settle the claims.
We sometimes wonder why we can’t seem to have a normal life like everyone around us. Because when s*** happens – we seem to be the chosen ones!
Still, there are small graces, and so much we have to be thankful for (like the good Samaritan who found a fire extinguisher in the nick of time.
We don’t know what caused the fire yet, but just hours before, we had been talking about keeping the car. It has been fully paid for and still in fairly good condition. Or so we thought …
So if there is one thing that 2018 (and the recent years) have though me – is that while it is good to have plans and resolutions, we never know what awaits us around the bend – sometimes the unexpected can really throw a spanner in the works.
Some spanners are harder to dislodge than others, but I guess those are the misadventures that builds character and strengthens you as a person the most.
I can do without misadventures though, and pray for more pleasant adventures and experiences this year & I wish the same for all of you!
Happy 2019 all!! And cheers to our pleasant adventures to come!🥂
